Gardens of La Piscine

Part of a global study considering historical gardens in the south of France, this large garden used to be a hunting domain, property of François Gaspard Richer de Belleval, president of the Court of Finance of Montpellier. He commissioned architect Jean-Antoine Giral to build the castle. As a reminder of that time, some of the façade ornamentation and statues still refer to battles and hunts, privileges of the nobility.

On the north side of the castle there is a double entrance court. To the south lays the main garden that was mostly remodeled in the 19^th century. Some of the oldest buildings are located on the east side with the Chapel, the orangery and the vegetable garden.
